Assessment of food security In Azerbaijan - Research Document

Since food security is one of the key elements of the national security of countries, it is considered one of their top priorities.

Hence, the study group of the Institute for Democratic Initiatives (IDI) has prepared a study document on the state of food security in Azerbaijan.

The document analyzes the state of food security in Azerbaijan on the example of wheat, citing sources such as the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the State Statistical Committee, the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Agriculture, etc. 

The level of self-sufficiency of Azerbaijan in wheat, statistics on wheat imports, the geography of wheat imports, the volume of annual wheat reserves, the structure of wheat consumption, the volume of wheat consumption by purpose are shown in infographics and tables.

It also outlines the FAO's recommendations on food security and its key elements and FAO's criteria for countries to conduct their own assessments.

The study shows the state of food security in Azerbaijan since 2015 and is of great importance in terms of drawing conclusions.
